What is particular about selling in Wohlen AG?

In the canton of Aargau notaries practise independently (freiberufliches Notariat): the sale contract for a property in Wohlen is drawn up as a notarised deed (öffentliche Beurkundung) by a notary of your choice. The sale is entered at the land registry (Grundbuchamt) of Wohlen at Wilstrasse 2, which is responsible for the administrative districts (Bezirke) of Bremgarten, Lenzburg and Muri. The property gains tax (Grundstückgewinnsteuer) is assessed by the tax commission of the municipality of Wohlen (§ 164 Tax Act, SAR 651.100).

Wohlen had 18,181 residents on 31 December 2025, 17.0 % more than at the end of 2015, and is the largest municipality in the Freiamt region (the administrative districts of Bremgarten and Muri) (Statistik Aargau). The municipal tax multiplier (Steuerfuss) is 116 % in 2026, the cantonal one 103 % (Aargau cantonal tax office); no surcharges are levied on the property gains tax (§ 2 para. 4 StG AG). The district of Anglikon, with the postcode 5611, was definitively incorporated into the municipality in 1914; the rest of the municipality has the postcode 5610.

How do you choose the right agent in Wohlen AG?

Speak to two or three offices and ask all of them the same questions. How is the price arrived at? Who looks after you personally? Which sales in Wohlen are documented? What does the fee include?
