Muri had 8,848 residents on 31 December 2025, compared with 7,589 at the end of 2015. That is 16.6 % more; the canton grew by 13.8 % over the same period (Statistics Aargau). The municipal tax multiplier (Steuerfuss) in 2026 is 106 %, the cantonal multiplier 103 % (Aargau cantonal tax office). On 1 June 2026, 12 flats in Muri stood empty, 0.28 % of the housing stock; in the district the figure was 0.56 %, in the canton 1.05 %.

Muri has been the chief town of the district of the same name since 1803. The municipality was formed in 1816 from the village communities of Muri-Dorf, Egg and Wey; it also includes the hamlets of Langenmatt, Wili and Hasli. The postcode is 5630; neighbouring municipalities are Aristau, Boswil, Buttwil, Geltwil and Merenschwand. By train you reach Rotkreuz in 17, Zug in 30 to 32 and Lucerne in 34 to 36 minutes.

How do you choose the right agent in Muri AG?
